LAUNCH Go Bootcamp

LAUNCH BOOTCAMP

Launch Boot camp is a weekend leadership retreat for students in grades 7-12 that takes place each January.  Students must be referred by a pastor or student pastor.

The boot camp is staffed by the Launch Internship director, the General Baptist National Youth Conference coordinator, and key student pastors.  GBNYC will serve a key role in bringing about an awareness of and recruitment of participants in the boot camp.

There is a junior high track and a high school track.  The junior high track focuses on general leadership principles and the high school track focuses on specific leadership, personality, and spiritual gift traits.  An assessment is given to each of the high school participants.

As a result of the boot camp, students are challenged to become leaders in their schools, churches and communities.  In addition, each participant is assigned a mentor (pastor, student pastor, or other trained mentor).

The boot camp takes place on an annual basis, and each student’s eligibility extends to subsequent years.  Students who have attended at least one boot camp are used to help lead future bootcamps.

High school juniors and seniors who participate in the boot camp are referred to the Launch internship program, the Lead Now program, and to formal education possibilities.

2019 Project “Community Development”

Communities Need WATER – but there is a crisis!

Our solution to the water crisis is simple: an inexpensive, home-based filtration system, an empowered community, and you. Read on and we’ll explain.

A simple bucket and a small filter…

Using technology inspired by our own biology, the Sawyer PointONE filter system functions much like kidney dialysis does to filter out impurities in the water, leaving clean, drinkable water.  This amazingly effective filter can be set up in five minutes. It requires only a 5-gallon container and the filtration kit. It is simple enough that adults of all education levels can learn how to use it.  No electricity, no complicated maintenance… guaranteed for a lifetime of clean, safe water!

…churches and their communities…

We have learned that effective technology is only the first step in bringing clean water to God’s thirsty children.  A sustainable, long-lasting solution depends on other  factors, including committed partnerships. We believe churches are ideal partners in our quest to change the reality of dirty water in marginal communities.  Churches are concerned for the health and well-being of children, and have proven to be reliable partners for bringing clean water to the most vulnerable children.  We invite churches to make a faith-based commitment, for we know that adding “the God-Spark” will charge and sustain a others for compassionate, joyful service to their families and neighbors… and that means the resources we invest will be maximized to the fullest possible impact.

..and you!

You’ve read this far because you share our passion for God’s thirsty children, and you’re intrigued by solution for this challenge.  It takes energy, resources, and partnerships!  As a donor, volunteer, or even mission partner, you can  give the gift of clean water in Hondura India, Philippines, Niger, and Jamaica.  We believe we can even help Guam and Saipan be better prepared for typhoon response with these amazing filters.

Most importantly our churches also have the greatest message of all – Jesus is the eternal spring of eternal life that will last forever.

What is LAUNCH?

General Baptist International Ministries is pleased to announce our new LAUNCH program.  LAUNCH will focus on launching General Baptist children and youth into missions awareness and involvement.  The two parts of LAUNCH will be LAUNCH Give and LAUNCH Go (learn about the LAUNCH Go Bootcamp).

LAUNCH Give will encompass the VBS offering and add a special youth component called the Day of Poverty.  Both programs will inform General Baptist children and youth about our mission fields (awareness) and invite them to become involved in our annual LAUNCH offering (involvement).

LAUNCH Go will invite General Baptist college age young people and young adults to take the next step in missions awareness and involvement by going to the mission field on a team or as an intern.  Jim Pratt, coordinator for Mission One (MVP), will oversee these exciting opportunities on all our fields.

The LAUNCH Give offering will include the traditional VBS offering as well as the new Day of Poverty offering.  Each year there will be a new focus for this offering.  This year we will help the General Baptist Bible College in the Philippines raise money for campus expansion.

We have already developed an assortment of resources for your church to use for both VBS and Day of Poverty which can be found at www.gblaunchgive.com a special web site is also in place for the Day of Poverty.

Please let us know how we can help you with any of this new project.  We look forward to your partnership in the ministry.
